PROJECT NAME: SeqNeVir (Virus Sequestration and Neutralisation)
PROJECT DURATION: 8 months
TOTAL EUROPEAN FUNDING: 167,682.69 EUROS
PROJECT COORDINATOR: Jean-Bernard REGNOUF de VAINS
In 2023, the FEDER awarded a grant of €167,682.69 (amount according to component) to the SeqNeVir project. This project is co-financed by the European Union as part of the FEDER-FSE Lorraine and Massif des Vosges Operational Programme 2014-2020.
Description of the project (objectives, results) :
OBJECTIVE: The SeqNeVir project, which brings together synthetic chemists, polymerists, microbiologists and theoretical chemists, aims to discover new protective agents against emerging viruses such as the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus responsible for COVID-19. Our hypotheses of activity are based on their inactivating interaction with proteins involved in the infectious process and present on the surface of the virus, including the Spike protein.
We propose to evaluate these molecules on SARS-CoV-2 in order to verify their activity on this viral strain and to select the best candidates for a more in-depth study; in parallel, to transform these candidates into molecules that can be grafted onto a polymer support to give materials capable of recognising and retaining/sequestering the virus on their surface and, in the form of fibres, capable of generating new active filtering systems in particular.
